I’m currently in charge of The Varietea Party, a monthly event under the umbrella of Comedy.HK. Held at the Hong Kong Brewhouse, Varietea brings together the music, comedy, poetry, storytelling and improv communities of Hong Kong and allows them to perform together on one show.
The event is always pay-what-you-want and 10% of all funds raised goes to charity, while the rest goes directly to performers and others involved in the show.
Varietea began in 2015 with Anto Chan and Jen Murray, and I took over when they were forced to leave Hong Kong and return to the untamed wilderness of Canada. We’ve since added a new promotion: take a picture with one of our kickass signs, upload it to Facebook or Instagram with #varieteaparty and get entered for a sweet prize.
If that’s not convincing enough, the Brewhouse offers a $128 all-you-can-drink special during this time. You know you’ll end up in LKF anyways. Why not start your night at Varietea?
